Carrefour aims to sell 30 million 1 euro books by 2030 to make reading accessible to all

Carrefour is pursuing its ambition to make reading accessible to all from an early age, and has set itself the target of selling 30 million 1 euro books by 2030. This initiative is in line with its program to combat illiteracy and dyslexia-related disorders.

Making reading accessible to all, in particular by giving the youngest children a taste for reading, is a social challenge and a factor of inclusion, to which Carrefour intends to contribute by launching a new collection of 20 books at 1€ in partnership with Rue Des Ecoles, aimed at children aged 3 to 8. The first 100,000 purchasers of a book from this collection will also benefit one year’s privileged access to a digital library featuring 100 digital works.

With 5% of children having learning to read or write, Carrefour wanted to make this collection more inclusive, by offering this year a book adapted for dyslexic children.

On April 9, 5,000 children took part in 30-minute reading workshops run by Carrefour teams in 250 stores across France.
